I can't find a good explanation of why Settings shows different things on two Windows machines: one with my account information on top, another without. Is there a setting (Privacy?) somewhere that controls this?

is it because one is signed in with a Microsoft account and the other isnt, ie using a local account?
all mine look like the bottom one as i only use local accounts.
I was sure mine looked like the bottom one too, but I just checked now and it looks like the top one. I use a local account and it says:

I got a new HP laptop out of the box yesterday and set it up.
Local user only (no MS account) and it looked like Exhibit A (with the user icon) - I had never seen this before.
When setting up with local accounts they normally look like Exhibit B.
Maybe it's a recent MS update?

Yeah once you're signed in things change a bit. I like where Windows is heading (other than their quality control) but they don't make it obvious about what certain things do upstream when you enable them.

I have this on 2 identical Windows 10 Pro 2004 laptops, No Microsoft account registered, Both setup with express settings new builds within 10 minutes of each other. Google suggests they're doing A/B testing again.

I dont see my profile picture, Im stuck on the one before 2004 because my machine isnt compatible and they wont tell me why so I can solve it. Damn microsoft. Not seen the picture on any of my computers but none are compaitble with 2004 so who knows?
Had a problem with my laptop update to 2004 because the system reserved folder at standard 100MB was "too small".
Did a Google search and found other users were having a problem with 2004 and the system reserved folder.
Had to use a partition manager to shuffle partitions and I increased the system reserved folder to 500MB.
2004 update fixed... so far! Hope it does not cause other problems!
My desktop upated to 2004 with a system reserved folder at 100MB.

They're failing at it then, if there's no feedback there...
