Is workgroup still a thing in Win10. Or something relegated to days of Win98 ?

In peer to peer Win10 sharing , I have never bothered with Workgroup , instead using IP adress to access shares & map drives

I know the master browser service is defunct in Win10 , and even in older OS's browsing the network wasnt a reliable way to find local PC's .

Just wondering .

Yes workgroup is still a thing in SMB setups but by default you shouldn't worry about it.

If understanding right, Homegroup which it was based on - since 1803 is gone.

SMB / NTFS sharing is now the only method

Homegroup was where you could go and specify shares/media sharing and so on.

Computer Browser used SMB1 .
SMB v1 is now disabled in Win10. Even if you enable it, it doesnt work properly (since 2404 )
