im just a learner could some one help please.
what is safe to take out of the startup in vista
is there a link to any sites that list everything that tells you what is ok and what is not

Unless your storage system is like 20GB...

this site just copies the services description -but really every system uses different stuff.
so if after stopping 15 services you find you cant play dvd nor connect to internet you better make sure you knew which 15/50 services you've just disabled otherwise it's gonna be a long night!

don't recommend it unless you know what you're doing and make a record of your progress (or not).

remember that vista is not all services... there are also entries in the startup folder (e.g. adobe and office quicklaunch) and entries in the registry key (e.g. msn messenger, mobile sync apps etc).

a good utility built in to winxp and winvista is "msconfig" - this utility gives you quick access to services, startup folder and registry startup entries and you can disable things from starting up without actually deleting/removing them
