Hi GZ,

I have sold my gaming PC and have performed a factory reset to wipe everything before handing it over. However, it is stuck at 99% and has been for about 9 hours.

Does anyone know what I can do to try and fix this? Or should I simply keep waiting as other users on various forums have advised.

Thanks!

Note: Factory reset DOES NOT WIPE the user data on the drive..

It will still be recoverable. If you had content you don't want anyway to access, you should do a wipe the drive fullly clean and then reinstall Windows.

So turn the power off, boot from a USB/CD to wipe the PC, then install windows again.

Factory Reset DOES delete data , sometimes . It may give that option or warning.
One brands factory reset is not the same as another brand.

Deleted data can be recovered , so thats not good enough .
You need a secure wipe , where every sector of the HD is overwritten with 1's or 0's .

Secure wipe is for those paranoid enough to think that the buyer will waste their time trying to recover your saved game files........ :)

I just do a complete reinstall from a USB stick, delete the partitions and reinstall Windows.

A reset from installed Windows, just resets it to "default", does not always remove files etc, even when youve selected it to remove them.

Like i said, it depends on the content of the drive.

"waste time", not really it takes about 2 hours tops to get a view of what maybe recoverable.
