I have not had much exprerince with vista but with xp and outlook express when things like that hapen you can uninstall then reinstall the program have you tried that with the mail client you are using? or try a windows repair if you have the vista disk. just a suggestion as nobody else has replied. just remeber to back up your emails and address book.
Note in xp you could go to addremove. then go to windows components and remove it from there. im not on a vista machine at the moment so i carnt tell you how to do it. worth a shot if there is no other option. sounds like the client is corrupt but i could be wrong
You really should upgrade to the newer Live Mail if you're using the version that came with Vista, the newer software is much nicer to use.
Type download.live.com into your browser, the download button is on the right side of the page. Works with XP too I think although I haven't tried.
clevedon: Finally sorted, had to go to Level 2 support at Microsoft. Problem was, even setting a default printer would not put a "tick" next to that printer selected even though it was the default printer selected so would print from everywhere else just not Excel, Word or a pdf in Windows mail. They had to create a registry key in Vista to enable the tick next to the default printer otherwise those types of documents wouldn't recognise there was a default printer. They said they had never seen this problem before and I was on remote log in with them for two hours to fix but all OK now.
