Anyone have any advice on how to wipe my hardrive so i can start over
i have everything i need on external hardrive
i have windows xp

Or if you have a legitimate XP CD you can put that in the cd drive, boot to it and when the setup program asks you what you want to do about the old windows copy you can delete and re-create the partition.

If you don't know what I'm talking about then maybe you'll have to ask someone to do it for you the first time so you can watch.

Remember doing this, and what johnr so eloquenty suggested, will wipe not just windows xp, but all your data (your pictures, movies, music,  settings, programs, emails everything).

Or if you want to securely erase the hard drive before starting again, Google for such terms as "boot and nuke", "Eraser", etc.
