over the past couple of days i keep getting asked by microsoft to validate my copy of office. i have passed the check with IE but it still keeps asking me to do it as i usually use mozilla. on the mozilla page it asks me to download an OGA file which doesn't work, then asks me to "validate" which then asks me to download a file called legitcheck.hta. does anyone know what this file is? office works fine on my computer and i won't want anything changing. if i download legitcheck.hta what will it do? if i'm not happy to download it how can i stop these annoying messages coming up? i have disabled it on the plugins on mozilla and its not on IE, still it constantly reappears.

help!

It's part of Microsoft's attempts to reduce software piracy by ensuring you are running genuine software.  Google it here.  Many of the listings are rants or worthless discussions but there is some good information there as well.

i downloaded the legitcheck.hta, seemed to have to do it twice to verify office and vista. the little icon was still showing at the bottom right, it had turned itself onto "hide when inactive" so i changed it back to "hide" and its gone. both times it verified fine. it just annoys me that i have to download things in order to stop little messages popping up all the time. hopefully that will be the last i hear from microsoft in a while!
