I installed an update for Windows 11 Home last night (it appears to have been from 11-2022). However, this morning in Task Manager, the background colour has gone to black. I want it back to white. There is no option within settings (within Task Manager) to change the theme. How else do I do this?

It is a know problem. Change your theme to light.

I wouldn't have the slightest clue how to do that within Settings > Personalisation > Themes.

If you're meaning within Task Manager itself, I no ability to select (or even change) themes under Settings.

You have to change in Settings | Themes as you mentioned. But it seems this was reported before and may be fixed at some point.

I hope so, as I can barely read the % for CPU etc usage. I don't want to change to an entirely new theme than one set at the moment, in case something else inadvertently changes.

I wish Microsoft would stop changing things people don't request. I did not request the theme of Task Manager to change. Had I wanted it black, I would have set it that way. It seems like after every major OS change, settings change that I need to manually change back (default programs for example) - please, just leave them as they were prior to the update.

Today's Windows Update KB5021255 should fix this.

As an aside, when the hell are we getting a Dark/Light mode selector in the quick settings?!
