Are you an admin on the laptop ? If not, then your best bet without stuffing around is to backup and reinstall Windows. Only takes 10mins.

If you don't want to wipe/reinstall windows for whatever reason, I've found this piece of software works quite well: https://www.passmoz.com/windows-password-recovery.html

I'm a geek, a gamer, a dad, a Quic user, and an IT Professional. I have a full rack home lab, size 15 feet, an epic beard and Asperger's. I'm a bit of a Cypherpunk, who believes information wants to be free and the Net interprets censorship as damage and routes around it. If you use my Quic signup you can also use the code R570394EKGIZ8 for free setup.

You can also look in the Local Users & Groups console to remove the unwanted admin account (if you too are an admin on the machine)

Im assuming its a MS linked a/c ? ie a live a/c
If so the ONLY option is a wipe & reload .
Password reset/recovery software doesnt work on MS Live logins .
