Howdy,

At present we have our IT services going through The IT Team, this includes our office suite subscriptions (monthly). We are moving it all over to Spark as it's a little cheaper and everything on the one bill with our phones and internet is more preferable.

What I wanted to know is if there is a purchase option to not have to pay the recurring sub license? Or can I at least manage that myself?

Really wish Google had desktop apps...

You can still buy Office as a standalone purchase rather than a subscription, with some fairly important caveats.

  • Currently the latest standalone version of Office is Office 2021, with a new 2024 release due out later this year.
  • You don't get version upgrades when buying standalone versions, so you have to spend Capex every few years on upgrading.
  • While you get the Outlook client, you have to host your own mail server, or still pay for Exchange Online or another hosted mail service.

You can also manage your own 365 licenses rather than going through an MSP, but if your small enough to outsource your IT needs to an MSP, honestly you're probably better off letting your MSP handle it.

What subscription do you currently have?

Yes you can buy the desktop apps as a one off, but not Office 365 features (Teams/Online Exchange/SharePoint/OneDrive etc)
