I have this setup on my server at home, and connect to it from work when I need to access stuff at home.

Problem is, when I am connected, my internet usage at work then all goes out via the VPN, wasting my bandwidth at home and making it slower.

Any ideas on how I can get it so that only Traffic destined for my LAN goes out via the VPN?

You need to go into the properties of the VPN connection on your work PC, go to the networking tab, double-click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), click the Advanced button then uncheck the 'Use default gateway on the remote network' option
