Has anybody installed SQL Server on WHS? I know it is not supported but would be interested to know if anybody has done so and how?

It will run just fine - Windows Home Server is currently a Windows SBS 2003 rebadged and with all the WHS options.

Yes - SQL Server 2005 has been runing on my WHS for many months with no probs.
