Does anyone know if NZ is likely to get a "Student pricing" edition? Is the student edition a washed down version compared to the others?

Is there a chart with comparisons between the different versions anywhere?

there will definitely be upgrades. there are already plausible upgrade paths posted by MS ... and thus with them should come the upgrade versions ... right? cheaper? well ... hmm ... should be!

I hope so. the prices are ok but I already gave Microsoft some money for vista I don't wanted to be treated like a common new user!

WTF? $217 for Home Premium!

When I saw the comparision chart I thought $119 is a good price - but obviously thats US pricing.

Anyway, seems IMHO its more cost effective to buy an new laptop than spend 1/4 the cost of a budget laptop on a new OS.

PS Hopefully there will be reasonable upgrade pricing.

If there is one, you won't find it on Ascent - Ascent is only listing OEM.  You need Retail for that sort of thing.  DSE, etc.

Unfortunately there is no Windows 7 "Family Pack" available in New Zealand.

It is only available for a limited time in just a handful of countries, unfortunately not including New Zealand
