I recently did a clean install of windows 7 on an HP dv6700 Notebook. The computer is actually working great and I'm not having any issues whatsoever. However, I went to my BIOS out of curiosity to check it out and I cannot navigate in it at all. The only option I see is a diagnostic test that I must have ran in June of 2009. I'm not sure if it is a big deal, sort of "if it ain't broke don't fix it" thing, but I wonder if I'll run into issues down the road. How important is the BIOS and should I try to fix it?
Are you using a external USB keyboard? If so that may be your issue. Try using the laptop keyboard.

I did find out the version of my BIOS (BIOS Version/Date Hewlett-Packard F.33, 11/12/2007) I'm not sure if that helps. Like I said before, I'm not having any issues with my laptop (yet)Here's a snapshot of my system info if it helps.

It appears that there is a newer BIOS update for your notebook but no installer for Windows 7 (latest is designed to be run on Vista). The risk is yours to take if you want to try to run the update with Windows 7. Maybe not worth the hassle, especially if it all goes bad! http://h10025.www1.hp....
