Hi
I have a topic about updating my desktop, but I have rung up some places and they have said my motherboard is obsolete and not worth upgrading. So I am looking at putting a desktop on HP can anyone recommend a good place and a good pc to look at??? Has to be on finance!! :)
Thanks

Usual questions:
1) What is the primary purpose of your computer? Gaming or just the internet and e-mails?
2) What is your budget?
3) How much hard disk space do you need?

Computerlounge seem to do finance now:

+ ask them for OS, Keyboard/Mouse and monitor if required, should come in just under 2k

I think with that kind of budget you won't have any problems finding what you need. Hop over to Noel Leeming or Harvey Norman and see what you like. Or, for gaming requirements, try playtech.co.nz.

Specs, anything with an i5 and 4GB ram is suffice. If you have more money up that RAM to 6GB if you run Windows 7 64-bit.

Great, is there much difference in Intel and AMD based units?? I see that most of the desktops around my price range have 4gigs but have either Intel or AMD. Also what would u recommend graphic card wise. What do you think of something like this:

I would probably go higher than a 5450 for graphics, maybe a 5670 or higher, the 5450s have trouble doing most games unfortunately

for $1988 at Playtech(where you can get finance too as well as computer lounge)
Playtech Prelude GTI Gaming Desktop PC
iCore i3 530 2.93ghz
Win home 7 64bit
8gb DDR3
1TB HDD
HD5770(which will play almost all current games you throw at it :)
22x DVD-RW
Office Starter 2010
Samsung 21.5" Monitor
Microsoft Sidewinder X4 gaming keyboard and mouse

tbh, I wouldn't look at any PCs at: DSE, Harveys, Noels, Bond and Bond. Just went through all their sites now, every PC under 2k either has integrated graphics or a 1GB 5450 which is another way of fooling people:
"I've got a 1GB graphics card, yet it can't play most games written 3-4 years ago" it's just crazy

Gutted, yeah it happens eh,

I know a few mates who have been ripped, yet they could've come to me and I wouldn't built them one in less time :)

The ones I do help, I just make them go through it enough so they can build themselves one, the next time they need too!
