hi,

I am trying to connect an XP laptop to an existing network.

I have run the networking wizard and from the existing network PC I can see the new laptop in the workgroup but clicking on it gives me an error saying it is not accessible and I may not have permissions (I am logged on as an administrator on both pcs). I have shared drives on both pcs.

From the laptop i see the workgroup but no pcs under it.

I am missing something obvious I bet but can't think what else to do.

Any help out there, please?

Sometimes you might need to restart the older machine so that it would recognise the new machine added to the network. Also, check that you have File and printer sharing enabled in the firewall config..
