Hi fellow geeks i am wondering if it is possible to boot into a windows operating system over a network

for example having windows xp installed on a pc or some type of server and being able to boot up windows xp from another pc or multiple pcs that are on the same network?

Not too sure about Windows XP, but with Windows 7/Server 2008 you can if you BIOS supports it, boot using iSCSI using a image/LUN from a iSCSI Target (e.g. Windows machine running free iSCSI Sharing software, or a SAN etc.)

Also you can do PXE (some people pronounce it pixie boot) which is built into all PC's, and just needs a PXE Server (DHCP Options etc) but this is usually used for imaging PC's with a clean install not so much running the PC from the remote server.

What problem are you trying to solve?

Hi Tiger I have found what your looking for unfortunately I can't post links yet but if you just Google CCBoot you should find exactly what your looking for. I can't vouch for it because I've never used it but it looks like what your asking for. And as an added bonus its free for 5 users. If you test it out let me know how it works I'd be interested in how well it works.
