Not sure if this is the right forum and I havent quite found what I am after.

Essentially I have a HP WHS and I want to backup my entire DVD collection on to it so I can stream via my laptop or Xbox360's.  I want to keep the 5.1 surround sound as well.

So what is the best tool
what is the best format

And as a side note how hard is it to upgrade the CPU (if anyone has done it in one of these boxes)

Cheers All.

Give handbrake a shot.  Thats what I normally use to convert my DVD's to MKV's.. As for the HP WHS comp, its an atom based one right?  Dont think theres any real cpu upgrade path on them. But then again what more do you want it to do?

It's worth noting format shifting of (retail/commercial) dvd's and bluray is not legal in NZ.

We have quite insane and pathetic fair use/copyright laws.

Yeah thought the format shifting might be like that.  But hey I won all the DVD's and am running out of space to put them so electronic they go.... perhaps not sure if overal I can be bothered.

Re Atom based.  No mine is the celeron one.
