Some of you that are using MCE 2005, will probably have the April Update Rollup installed. (Check Chris Lanier's blog for my comment)

I can't speak for all other MCE out there, but with this update on my HP MCE, I get the classic Oct2005 RU2 "Code 3" problem.

My workaround is to remove KB914548 for the time being until someone can confirm and fixed the problem.

The problem I have is, whenever I get into MCE > Settings > TV, I will get an error saying a critical component problem. CODE 3 error. And any menu from there onward will give me the same error message too.

You will noticed your Recorded TV will not list all the recorded programmes you recorded, and you cannot add new recording schedule.

I don't know how severe is this. I just hope everyone be aware of this and update and see if it fixed your existing problems, and not create new problem.

updating my mce 2005 to the latest update rollup also produces the same issue.
I've used system restore to uninstall it for now, and will leave it that way until i know it's safe otherwise. i suggest anyone else with a similar issue do the same!

most notible effect: list of rcorded programs is empty, video stutters, media center is generally unusable

what r your specs? maybe we can find a common system attribute that may be the culprit in this

my system is a mce 2005 installed from legit oem purchase
p4ht 2.8
asus motherboard, sis chipset, integrated soundmax digital audio (a constant frustration in my box)
radeon 9600xt all in wonder
theatre 550 tv card
component output to hd lcd tv as main display
