I have little faith in these fix and optimise it softwares, but if Mauricio pops it onto the GZ homepage, I assume it may be ok? Does it carry any weight for non PC literate users, and maybe a timesaver for those of us with a bit of knowledge?

As a hacker (in the sense of tinkering with things), I like to see what those software suggest, but I don't usually let them do any changes. The same with Norton 360 and their cleanup features.

I posted because they reached to me and made a good case so I thought it would be interesting to report it.

I guess if you are running something like Acronis you could create an image of your system, test and see how it goes. If anything bad happens, restore the image.
