Please help

I downloaded the Vista OS from microsoft, have the key, and have tried installing twice so far with the same result...
It freezes during the 'finalising installation' stage

It boots from the disk I made fine, accepts the key and installs fine, rebooting a couple times during the install process as it says it will...
But once its installed everything, updates etc, and gets to the 'finalising installation' stage, it then reboots again, and the displays the XP like status bar scanning across the page....this scans back and fortha couple times, then freezes right there, no longer scanning or going any further?

Have I done something wrong?
Is the disk I made corrupted?
Please help

Let me add:

As I attempted this twice with the same result, I also crashed the system after the second attempt to bring up the saftey screen...
From here I had some choices, including 'boot last known working configuration', to which I did....
This acually got me into Vista.
The problem was that not all the Vista features were working, and once they had been enabled/installed, which is done automatically apoun Vista first use, they required a reboot...
Once I did this reboot, I was back at square 1 with the bootup screen freezing....so the only way I could get into Vista was through the last know working configuration, that problem meant the settings/changes made previously were never saved/installed so many fetaures were still not working, and I was going round in circles....
Effectively the Vista install was obviosly incomplete and while Vista could be used, it was rendered useless...

Help!

Could it be a problem with the video driver? Have you tried booting into Safe Mode?
