I like the concept of tiles instead of icons. No need to go into the app to have information at a glance. It's what Apple could have done with the iPad.

mrbluesky: Reminds me of Windows Media Centre.

+1

it looks like windows 7 media center with a new theme and all this sliding stuff.
i dont know if i like it. i think for a power use of a pc it could get annoying fast.
for mum and dad and the 13 year old at home could be a little fun...........

Wonder what the mouse gestures for multitasking will be. Using the touch gestures with a mouse not as practical?

Remember, when Apple does it, you can then say "Microsoft has done this since 2010 with Windows
Phone 7".

Obviously people won't remember, and keep saying how "innovative" Apple is ;)

Remember, this is the touch interface. Mouse and keyboard are still functional under the hood. But perhaps in 2013 you just need the Brain Capture Device (TM)?

I think apple is working on one so they can take over the world!

BCD's won't work for those who wear tin foil hats though.

Looks cool. Wonder what power usage is like in a tablet if the theme is having everything there and running. For those heavy users who take it out regularly and want to always be "connected", ideal. Those who are more task based and less social based users, still good I guess.

I quite like it to be honest, reminds me of the Windows Phone 7 but a lot more customized for a tablet, hopefully it will come out reliable. I don't think that it is really an 'iPad Killer' personally but I do think it has a large opportunity to gain a good chuck of the tablet market if Microsoft can play their cards right when it comes to how restricted it is compared to iOS
