I had a request from my brother to see how much windows 7 would cost to replace vista on his laptop.

Click through to the NZ windows shop and it's closed for refurbishment?

seems a little odd

They are renovating the website and chaning the process (back end etc). You can go to PBTech or buy the Windows 7 OS from on an online retailer such as Computer Lounge or Playtech.

Do whatever you want to do man.

I thought one of the good things about digital life was that rolling out new features or 'refurbishing' could be done on a bank of test servers while your store is still open. Like a brick and mortar store only no downtime!

This is why i posted

You would think they would at least have information about resellers and an approximate reopen date (rather than 2012).

My first thoughts were WTF windows is closed?  If it wasn't for the fact that my brother actually wants a legit copy it would be easier just to get a torrent.
