Hello, my HP dv6 laptop now when I click anything on the task bar, etc: start button, windows explorer, opening a tab from Windows 7 (64bit) it just keeps crashing! I have tried the Shell Context Menu thing, but no luck! Everytime it crashes it just asks me to restart it and when I click 'View Problem Details' it just gives me this:

I have tried to reboot, full system scan and still have no luck! Can you guys please help me? It's just so annoying! I can't do anything - check documents, FTPs, anything that you need windows explorer for.

Thanks in Advance!

Does it happen in Safe Mode?

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

F8 for safe mode

Some PCs also use F8 to access BIOS features.

Check if there is anything in the Windows Event Viewer.

Select: Start Menu > All Programs > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Then expand Windows Logs in folder tree (in the left pane of the window). Look at the System log in particular and see if you find any red errors.

Check the error properties (right-click for the context menu or turn on the preview pane from the menu View > Preview Pane) and see what it the error is attributed to.

^Dude, I can't even get to control panel without it crashing! I am soo pissed. But last time I checked Event Viewer there were quite alot of 'warnings' like 'this is the culprit that lead the computer to wake up slowly' etc. - mainly just that. And it is the Graphics - Radeon Graphics that's leading the computer to wake up slowly.

Yeah, sorry.

Did you try safe mode?

Do you have a Windows install disc of any sort or was it preinstalled and came with no disc?

Did you create a Windows 7 repair disk? Or do you have any system backup that can be started from a disc?

freitasm: Read and follow instructions here.

Doesn't work.

It doesn't crash in safe mode. Also in the Event viewer I have these "critical or error" errors.

The Computer Browser service depends on the Server service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start.
Service Control manager. Event ID:7001

The PnP-X IP Bus Enumerator service depends on the Function Discovery Provider Host service which failed to start because of the following error:
The dependency service or group failed to start.

DCOM got error "1084" attempting to start the service WSearch with arguments "" in order to run the server:
{9E175B6D-F52A-11D8-B9A5-505054503030}
DistributedCOM Event ID:10005

The following boot-start or system-start driver(s) failed to load:
aswSnx
aswSP
aswTdi
BdfNdisf
bdfwfpf
BDVEDISK
discache
spldr

[b]The Multimedia Class Scheduler service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the MMCSS service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the HPWMISVC service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the EapHost service.

A timeout (30000 milliseconds) was reached while waiting for a transaction response from the ShellHWDetection service.[b]

The bolded above has happened all today every minute.

Also here is a warning:

The speed of processor 3 in group 0 is being limited by system firmware. The processor has been in this reduced performance state for 71 seconds since the last report.
All the processors have the same problem.

Sorry to have copied all this, but hope to solve some of this. Thanks in advance for any replys!
:)

Step back a bit then... What was the last application you installed before this started happening?

You have backup? If so, can you install from the recovery image and use it for a while, reinstalling things one at a time, every day, and see if anything happens?
