darylblake: Windows just works for games, apps, any type of devices... everything works. The UI looks a lot cleaner and the UX is exponentially better. (when you exclude the windows store stuff).

Yah... if you ignore the crap aspects, it's great. lol

But, to be clear, I'm not a Linux zealot (I don't think). I do think that a credible alternative to the Apple-store / Windows-store concepts needs to be in place, just to keep those 2 players honest.

I like Linux, it's frustrating, it's a pleasure, it's a piece of junk, it's a masterpiece. I like it because it interests me and one has to arm wrestle it. However if I want a system to work and be productive then it's either Windows 10 or Mac OS.

edit; typo

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

gzt: Android. Linux kernel. 42% web client market share. Looking good for Linux ; ).

It would be worth explaining what the 'web client market' is and how many competitors there are.

OMG someone tell Amazon they have made a mistake with their EC2 platform.

I assume when you said "Windows 10 of Mac OS" the "of" was a typo or are you insinuating that Windows 10 is the b*st*rd child of the Mac OS? :)

You know what I mean and yes it was an obvious typo undecided

MikeB4: KDE and it's crayola look has never really appealed.

The "crayola look" has long gone from KDE.
KDE's Plasma 5 has a flat look that has been somewhat copied by windows 10.

As of Plasma 5.8 it is probably the best DE I have ever used in Linux - but experience with Plasma varies depending on the distro you use. Personally, I use openSUSE and KDE/Plasma is very tightly integrated into that distribution.

Plasma 5 is really quite nice for a modern Linux DE. I still think it could tone down the eye candy and numerous config options a bit more.
