paragonOfGeek: I can't believe you just said...OOo doesn't do equations.....WTF. I typed up all my 2nd year physics notes in OOo, they were beautiful the equations worked out perfectly. The fact that it is a basic scripting language to get the equations means that you can type out what you want to get select the lines and press the convert button (I mapped this to F4 so I could do it quickly on the fly). The graphical interface of office math type is absolute crap for doing anything other then a basic equation.

Solidworks/gaming is the only reason that I still have a windows box.

Whaaaat it does? where who how what when? Teach meee :P

Insert -> object -> formula.... a box in the lower part of the screen will come up and let you type in it. But when you learn the script it is far faster to just type the commands, select the text and then use Insert -> object -> formula (map this to a key for even better productivity)

try this "{d^2 x}over{dt^2}= ddot x = x ? x^3 %delta dot x + %epsilon sin (%omega t)" paste that into writer without the quotes and then select the text and Insert -> object -> formula. It is one of the formula from my chaos notes in 09.

Once you learn the language, that'll be more effective than the Windows one, cheers! :D I'm so happy right now :P

paragonOfGeek: I have 10.10 UNE on my HP Mini.....overall the unity desktop kinda looks cool but it slows down my netbook too much for my liking. I will be "downgrading" to 10.04 when time permits.

The fact that the unity bar on the left side of the screen takes up valuable real estate on the 1024*600 screen so that many websites need to be scrolled sideways really annoys me.

Although one really cool thing happened, I chose to upgrade my install rather then do a full reinstall. I left it going while I went to work, the computer had lost power sometime in there, the install was about 1/2 done. There were a few missing components to the OS, mainly gnome was not installed properly so I could only see one program running. ALT-Tab wasn't working. No networking on the wireless but wired was working fine. So I simply did a sudo dpkg --configure -a and about 1 1/2 hrs later all was up and running. I was surprised at how resilient the system was to not require major surgery after something like that.

Yea I know and that would work well except that the text becomes a little too small to read.....this wasn't a problem in the last version....

Also control+scroll is kinda annoying on the netbook trackpad...not very accurate or fast enough to not zoom to infinity.

i guess there'll always be lots of different answers --- and they will be weighted for Ubunut etc simply because they have greatest exposure,

I'm running it! I still like Linux Mint more though. But it is sooo much better than 10.04.

I'm a-usin' it.
Got the Radiance theme with a Clearlooks-based window border... Also the failsafe black-with-white-outline default X cursor setup.
Anyone else notice that the Ambiance/Radiance theme's menus aren't horrendously huge in 10.10?

I'm considering buying a mac next - It'll probably dual boot Ubuntu though. Mainly for the reason, they're getting popular, and my friends keep asking me for help on them and I never have a clue haha. Also some of my clients are asking about them.
