Its not booting, just closes.

I have the i386 iso, 2 gigs assigned to the VM

Tried the F6 and then escape and adding in vga=791 noreplace-paravirt options which was enough to get something ages ago booting and working.

Dont really want to try virtualbox like most threads seem to suggest as I use windows XP mode still for a couple of things and they cant both be running at once from a previous go at using it.

try nomodeset and acpi=off, then there are some force options i cannot recall at present.

No joy with those either on their own or with the other ones.

Last time I had similar problems was booting ubuntu on powerpc. Got there in the end with yaboot video= options. This isn't going to help on x86 afaik.

Maybe try vga=773.

ok, the the video= option is also available on x86. Google for some examples or create from manpages.

From memory I may have used an option to turn framebuffer off. I got different behavior on restart and power down, so be aware there.

If w7vpc provides an option to change the video card and or pre-set a display resolution that might settle things down a bit also and a quick way around these issues.

That's my limit ; ). Best of luck there.
