I have reciently aquired a secondhand IBM xseries 206m sever which also has RAID on it. and I am wanting to install Ubuntu on it as it currently has no operating system on it and would like to use it as a basic file server for home use.
After many trys to install the latest version of Ubuntu of a pen drive it seems to fail to decect the harddrive and therefore can't install Ubuntu. The harddrive works fine as I have tryed it in another computer. At this stage I have yet to try the Ununtu server edition.
I have tryed to disable the RAID but yet still get the same outcome and after reading around there seems to be others the have struck the same or similar issue but on different systems and all have different suggestions some of which I don't really understand too well as I don't have a lot of experience in using servers, RAID and Ubuntu in general.
Any suggestions would be greatful.
Thanks.
