I have EasyPeasy (Ubuntu) installed on an ASUS Eeep701, and it is largely working just fine.

However, I cannot get a 3G dongle to work, even though the Network Setup allows for such broadband devices and connections .... the ethernet/cable and wifi work perfectly using same Network Setup app.

Suggestions welcomed undecided

Is the 3G stick supported by the OS and drivers? There are thousands of different types of dongles out there, and they're all different.

It is supposed to support them ... I've tried two different makes/models (ZTE-K3565Z  and Huawei e173).

Ironically, some years ago (when the netbook used Xandros), I managed to install the Linux version of Vodafones' VMC app, and it worked fine with both dongles.

wvdial is the way.




Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Hi Ross,     thanks for that.

I located wvdial in Ubuntu Software Centre, and installed it, but cannot see what to do now ... there is no icon or app evident, nor does the dongle connect.
