I have a toshiba tablet (laptop) and want to know if linux will run on it and support it like windows xp tablet edition?

Google your laptop model +linux+support and see what pops up. The other way is to download something like the Ubuntu Linux live cd, which you can run from CD before you install it to see if things work ok.

Try out mandriva 2007 (not sure about 2008) but it come with metisse which is ideal for tablets. hope you get/got it working, even compiz would be quite impressive on a tablet.

1st three live distros i recomment to find out if hardware works with linux SimplyMepis, Knoppix, and Ubuntu, and 2nd 3 would be damn small linux debian and fedora live releases.
