Hi guys,

Back on the linux bandwagon at the moment as I'm using it for work a fair bit and wanted to know if people are still having to use wine or an emulator to use itunes with linux and or a good alternative. I couldnt find a straight alternative on the net.

I guess another option would be to run windows in vmware or zen?

Anywho, got wireless network card issues siocsifflags: no file or directory when activating the wireless card so got some hunting to do in the mean time. if you can seen that email please pm me.

Cheers,

You could create a Windows VM in VirtualBox, it allows you to do USB passthrough to a VM. If you just need to transfer music you could use Banshee, it supports ipods.

I usually use GTKPod... sometimes can a bit buggy though :(   http://www.gtkpod.org/about.html

Otherwise, what other people have said usually work a treat...  VM or Rhythmbox

I've heard some disturbing stuff about connecting your iPod/iPhone to iTunes in a VM...

wellyg33k : what VM you using?
USB/external devices have been a bit tricky for me in KVM, but I think it's all a lot simpler in VirtualBox. Is this so? I've only played around a bit with VirtBox, but never really took it seriously, due to lack of libvirt support (and a few other considerations)
Otherwise, devices into VM's working OK for you?

I'll try & dig up that info for you (can't quite remember where I can across it)
