Hi all,

I need to setup a few wordpress sites and wanted to support an NZ biz rather than host from the US.

It's just a sideline for me at the moment - if i get any serious volume of sites - i'll setup my own co-lo.  I did a quick search on these forums and people seemed to be recommending 24/7 hosting.

I called them and raised a ticket request with a sales question this morning, but they haven't been bothered to get back to me.  If that's the sales behaviour then god help me if actually have a support issue.

So does anyone have a recent recommendation ?  someone who might actually pick up the phone and want my business?

Many thanks in advance for your collective wisdom

Jon

It depends on your budget, and requirements? With much cheap hosting, they can host your website with thousands of others on the same server, and it can run slowly over time as the server fills up, with more limited technical support. I would suggest a NZ company with NZ based servers, possibly with no set diskspace and traffic limits so you are not restricted by size.
The thing to do is email a whole lot of them, and see how long they take to reply, and how comprehensive their replies are with their help. There are a lot of options.
The other thing you should do is see how long they have been around for. Many startup and then flop as the cost of entry is low. So check that they have been around for a good few years, possibly at least 5. The best hosts tend to be those that have been around for at least that amount of time I have found.

i was kinda hoping someone would have just done that :)

it's tiring talking to all these people :)

Its only a few tiny little sites, was hoping to be able to run them off a single DB..

Support local businesses when they have competitive prices, I host with Dreamost and they are perfect.

Openhost are good
http://www.openhost.co.nz/apps/wordpress.php

They've been around forever and still locally owned and operated (parent company is Web Drive).
