iTunes Match is working pretty good... works great with AppleTV in rooms, and I have a Mac Mini that run ML Server as iTunes server.

I do recommend looking to getting AppleTV 2/3 to replace your FrontRow.

I have two ATV3 upstairs and they are great, however downstairs I have an old first gen plasma that does not have HDMI, which is where the MacBook (iTunes server) comes into play, with a VGA dongle, inbuilt IR and FrontRow it does the job nicely when it's stable.

I personally have stopped using Match because of the widely documented issues with smart playlists not syncing properly.

I think I am going to get a USB 3 or Thunderbolt HDD and just put the iTunes library on it locally. It will save all this messing about with Cloud stuff which appears less reliable than it used to be all of a sudden.

I have dumped Frontrow in favour of Plex on a MacMini (connected via HDMI to my TV and USB to my preamp).
I'm running the Plex Server, as well as Plex Home Theatre (it brings Airplay video + audio), meaning that my JB ATV2 is now living permanently at a friends house.
iTunes still runs on the machine, for convenience of my other half really.

I too finally got on Plex and using PlexConnect for Apple TV 2.

What does Plex do over iTunes?

Plex is a server, allowing you to not only categorize your content (tweaking artwork / descriptions etc), but it also allows you to stream DIFFERENT content from the same library, to multiple devices.
In other words, you can stream FLAC files to the stereo in the lounge, while someone else is streaming MP3's to their iPad, someone else is streaming TV to their smart TV and someone else, at work, is catching a movie on their Android tablet.
It has a few different pieces of software - I use the web based server to organise my content and serve it to my gadgets. I use Plex Home Theatre as my TV interface (it's for paying Plex Pass members only at this stage) as it allows me to use Airplay video and audio directly to my TV. I use the iOS apps on my iPhone / iPad's too. The server software is free, Home Theatre costs (try the non-home theatre front end if you like) and the iOS and Android apps all have nominal costs initially.
