I only have 8GB in my iMac, with Mountain Lion it would have around 6GB free after a reboot and average 4.4 during use. With Mavericks there is 4.35GB free after reboot and average 3.2GB during use.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I installed it on my Mac Mini yesterday and today noticed that Bootcamp is no longer working and I can't access my Windows 8.1 install any more. :(
I've done some quick searching and it looks like others have had the same issue, while others Bootcamp is still working, so just something to be aware of.
Make sure you backup first, which you should be doing anyway!

I did an upgrade from 10.8.5.

Mavericks download only took about 20 mins on our fibre here at work.

I've just been searching the Apple Support forums for Mavericks. Chock full of problems it seems. I'm tempted to time machine back to 10.8.5.

I highly recommend waiting to update when you rely on a Boot Camp partition. If that's not possible and you must update, I often recommend backing up the Boot Camp data, then doing a clean install of OS X, then recreating Boot Camp and clean installing Windows before restoring your data. There's always issues going from full release to full release where Boot Camp is involved, and updated boot camp drivers usually don't come out for a month or two after the OS gets release - sometimes longer.

The other option is to virtualise your boot camp Windows prior to the update and if boot camp breaks you can use Parallels or Fusion to access your boot camp Windows in case you desperately need to work out of Windows in the new Mac OS.

Installed painlessly on my 2012 Air. I actually gained disk space too! Had 6gb free prior to download and have 11gb free post install. Can't complain.

Stoked to have tabbed finder windows.

And good to FINALLY have full screen mode back for dual monitors which was removed after Snow Leopard.

I'm going to wait until some of these teething issues are worked out. Sucks to be on the bleeding edge sometimes. I learnt that when mountain lion broke parallels desktop last time. Nothing time machine couldn't fix tho.

I upgraded last night on my 2010 15' MBP with 4GB RAM and an SSD. Runs just like Mountain Lion, no noticeable differences as of yet, Safari may be a little faster, and I've yet to have used it off charger to see what the battery life is like. Not sure whether to put it on the old 2007 iMac (Only 2GB RAM and HDD), supported, but might be a little slow.

10.7 Lion, it's mostly used for web surfing and basic video editing in iMovie, which is already pushing what it has to offer, so I think I'll leave it until it gets at least 4GB RAM or, preferably, an SSD.

Painless upgrade on the day that it was released. If you use Parallels, upgrade to version 9 before upgrading to Mavericks.

I am pleased to see a long-standing problem has been fixed that affects NZers and a few others in this time zone. Over the last decade anniversary dates in the contacts app didn't sync properly with the calendar app. For certain dates the sync would put the date in the calendar app one day prior to the actual date. It has something to do with the UMT+13 time zone we are in over the summer. I spent two hours on the phone with an Apple tech support person last year and he was able to reproduce the problem, and it looks like the fix has been rolled into Mavericks. Minor problem for some, I am sure, but annoying for others who go to pick up someone from the airport and arrive on the wrong day!
