officially the limit is 10.8dB as tested with their analyser, but it really depends on luck of the draw.

They do quite often allow longer lines now it seems.

This house is a bit of an unknown quantity. Maybe a master filter/splitter would help? The entire place is a total mystery in terms of wiring. Probably quite shoddy!

hio77: at 24dB its likely chorus will deny your vdsl line when they turn up.
Worth a shot though.

The VDSL install should upgrade your house wiring by providing a master filter and a new dedicated Cat6 cable to a new RJ45 termination point.
This may improve your attenuation figures.
If your downstream attenuation really is 24 dB, your VDSL downstream speeds will probably be similar to your current ADSL speeds, but your UPSTREAM speeds will probably improve, which is what you want.

Quite possible yes, Still seems a little on the higher side though. Go for vdsl though see if you can get it and how it turns out.

Yes it may be likely faster on the upstream, the issue is if chorus will allow the connection or not.

I wanted to do the same for office 365 migrations but it was pointless.

Just use your DSL connection and turn your laptop on to upload when you are sleeping or at work, might take a few weeks.

I'm assuming that the new photo app (when released next year) will "ask" if you want to upload existing iPhoto images when you first install it. That would make sense wouldn't it? It will still take ages with lots of photos but it would just quietly sync in the background.

For the cost of that, Its really not bad.

Highly tempting if it wasn't for the actual bandwidth of the connection here is seen as the limit rather than the actual limit!

After more network testing, we found that we can’t provide Spark Ultra VDSL on your line.

FFS. So I really will be waiting til 2019 then.
So, back to the original question. How to upload all these photos. Leave my computer at a friends house for weeks I guess.

You've got a megabit up, just set it going and be patient. Some cloud storage services can't handle fast connections anyway. If it's a laptop you could always stick it on WiFi if you can find yourself a fast connection occasionally to give it a boost - work, friends place, etc. I wouldn't worry too much about it because I presume your current backup system is still in place.

Is it possible to get a human involved to have a more thorough look? Have they essentially measured the noise reported by my current ADSL modem?
I don't currently have a master splitter etc, would my statistics improve with some work on my phone line?
Very frustrating.

Yep I stil have a backup but of course it's in the same location as the computer, not ideal.
My actual upload seems to be painfully slow, my iPhone 6 has not even uploaded 750 photos over three nights.

I would give insanes suggestion a shot.

insane: Go here and look for a local school connected to the N4L network: http://map.n4l.co.nz/ , edit the filter to only show connected schools, if they are connected they will have Fibre + unlimited data. [hint larger schools have faster connections]

Go nuts :)

Could get coffeebaron in (assuming your in auckland) and see if he cant help you squeeze a little more.

Ild say waiting it out is your only real option however - or look to RBI for faster upload!
