patdude123: I wonder if they'll charge you for the final ITU agreed 802.11n update???

What's the ITU got to do with it? Last time I checked they live in the Telco world. The 802.X standards come under the umbrella of the IEEE.

ITU/IEEE who cares? Apple have been called out by some of the most senior accountants in the USA on hiding behind accounting laws to charge for a software update. I am "over reacting" because it is the thin end of the wedge and sets a very ugly precident for future downloads.

ITU and IEEE are VERY different organisations. I don't pretend to know anything about US accounting law. But I would think that if the Sarbanes-Oxley act didn't exist, Apple wouldn't be charging for this software, I think they are being cautious due to their existing SEC investigations.

As for setting a precident; I think that the quicktime update released today by Apple sets a very ugly precident for future downloads. ;-) Why should be be able to download them free when they can charge for it. ;-)

Interesting enough, and yes, this is an OT.

Steve Wozniak said Steve Jobs "short-change" him of the work he did to reduce the number of processor in Atari's Breakout. Read this...

And at the moment, there seems to be at least 3 court cases for Apple at the moment, Cisco vs Apple, OPTi Inc vs Apple, and now Quantum Research vs Apple for click-wheel on iPod... and Steve Jobs is being queried by the US Authorities

So... mmm I have my thoughts on Steve Jobs as a person... and do question about his leadership and his ethique though.. but I reserve those thoughts to myself. :-)

I read that in iWoz....Steve Jobs was also the one who only wanted two expansion slots in one of their early systems whereas steve wozniak wanted 8. (woz won :D)

Woz is the brain, Jobs is just a salesman... And Jobs is very good at promoting sale... as evidented with iPod and "iPhone"...
