josephhinvest: Yep I stil have a backup but of course it's in the same location as the computer, not ideal.
My actual upload seems to be painfully slow, my iPhone 6 has not even uploaded 750 photos over three nights.

To qualify as a backup, to me, it has to be in a separate location. What you have is a copy.
timbosan: If your in Auckland, have your photos on a portable drive and dont mind leaving it with me, I can upload them for you. I have VDSL (10Mbit up) and on an unlimited plan, so don't mind helping out a fellow geekzone user.
And I recommend coffeebaron too, he did my install (actually a few times as I upgraded from ADSL to ADSL2+ and then VDSL).

Thanks for the kind offer. Part of the problem is that I presume I will need to upload directly from iPhoto, thus requiring my actual machine to be at the location of the good internet connection.
I've messaged coffeebaron :)
Cheers,
Joseph
