There were a few initial hiccups like Ableton not showing instruments etc.. on the personal computer and the work machine had me always set as in a tornado warning, then some issues with the MagicMouse and browsers. As of version5 (installed today) I am not seeing any issues at all.

Overall been a smooth beta process. I am excited for the full release!

Yes it seems to be very nice.

I have not really explored too many of the technical features but the design is nice and Safari works better than the previous one did.

just works better, looks better, as well it does not keep indexing your drive over and over hogging machine resources

no, except you will want to still allow it to index your applications folder as this is how the app store keeps track of installed apps for updating etc...

Apple has now confirmed that there will be an event on that day. The tagline is "It's been way too long."

A "GM candidate" will become the GM (Gold Master). It's a version that's intended to be released as-is if there are no major problems with it. The earlier Previews and Betas were not intended to be released as-is.

no, except you will want to still allow it to index your applications folder as this is how the app store keeps track of installed apps for updating etc...

So I am quite liking Alfred. It took me a while to get used to how he works but he's pretty slick actually!

Some things I still can't grasp - like writing work flows - but the rest seems tidy.

So who or what decides whether it progresses to GM status? How long does Apple wait for people to find issues before anointing the candidate?

I can't help but think of some weird ceremony with Apple execs in robes and pointy hats anointing a CD copy with oil from SJ's last car and uploading it to SJ's personal posthumous Mac, with bells and incense and a statue of SJ looking down on the Apple Sanctum.....

One of my favourite additions is actually how volume changes aren't followed by an annoying sound. The visual notification is still there but that is fine on its own. I don't need visual and auditory notifications.
