Hi Guys; All sorted.. thanks

Thanks to the great guys at the Cambridge Telecom store I'm now online with Lion and still on XT.

The Sierra Wireless 306 USB Modem has a software update available for Lion.. Works a treat and on 64 bit too.
Have also renewed my 2 yr 4 GB on account Data plan..

So had a bit of an issue with my Lion install on the weekend (been running since the weekend before and this was my first real hit out).

Found the user switching bug (currently having to log out and log in), and had to turn off the feature in the OS which automatically remembers and relaunches the files/windows you had open last time.

This feature created kernel panics for my wife who was just trying to log into her account, and locked up the machine when opening apps (might be grand if you have an SSD, but not with a regular hard drive).

Has anyone seen a way to set a preference to untick the box on logging out which remembers the apps/wndows that were open (terminal is fine)?

Hope this helps everyone else.

Jon

Found this thread to untick the restore all windows/apps option at log out, but none of the options are permanent...

I'm having this issue where my networking doesn't come up on reboot. I have to open Safari, click Network Diagnostics, tell it to turn on Wifi, and then I can reboot again.

Trying to open System Preferences does nothing (SBOD).

What changes? I don't have an issue with apps reopening on login. The thread you posted didn't help.

That's a weird one, tried an SMC Reset?

If you stick Airport in the menubar at least you'll reduce a few steps in the interim?

Any notable incompatibilities?

Im tempted but dont really see any pulling factors, other than just to have the latest and greatest

No problems here since updating, business as usual.  I didn't have any WiFi probs in the first place though.

OS X Lion is now avalible on USB from the Apple Store NZ. $99.00 !
I see its ver 10.7 and that 'you cant reinstall OS X lion without this USB key if needed to in the future.

So apart from the obvious.... what do you all think are the pros and cons of this stick?

You can't legally reinstall Snow Leopard and prior without the original DVD so no difference there except that the USB key is smaller, faster, and easier to identify.  As with previous DVD versions you'll be able to get a replacement from Apple if you lose it, at a greatly reduced cost.  SL and prior was only $10 USD from memory.
