I have a Mac Mini (A1347) i5/3GB/500GB that I want to setup on my dad's TV, there are no free HDMI ports so want to connect via VGA connector on TV but can't get a picture. I have a genuine Thunderbolt to VGA adapter but no picture, I'm assuming I have to change a setting in Lion (OS X 10.7)?

Is it thunderbolt or display port? Probably doesn't really matter.
Are you plugging Mac mini into "PC" input of tv? And running audio separately I guess?
Perhaps you need to turn the Mac mini resolution down so the tv can support it?
Have you considered a cheap hdmi switch to effectively provide another input for tv?
Would give much better picture and sound from mini.

Cheers,
Joseph
