Hi there,

I'm not quite sure how to ask this question as I don't know the name of the feature I'm asking about :)

It's a black box that is floating on my screen and explains things I click on. Eg when my cursor is inside this window, it shows the text that I've just typed. If, when in one of my documents, I click File > Close, it prompts me to click Save and tells me what will happen if I don't! It even puts a black box around the OK button to prompt me where to click next! It's all very helpful but a little annoying. I don't know what this feature is called so I can't find where to turn it off.

I must have inadvertently hit a shortcut key to activate it.

I'm using OSX Lion.

Thanks a lot for your help :)

It's a feature of universal access - should be able to turn it off in preferences.

Try command-F5 - it's apparently the VoiceOver accessibility feature.
