Mac OS X users must be on the lookout for malicious QuickTime movies. It's now known that the QuickTime flaw is cross platform, affecting both Mac OS X and Windows users:

Now lets wait for the press release from Apple blaming it on Microsoft for making Windows vulnerable and denying that it affects Macs

To be fair, the two unpatched Microsoft Word exploits deserve a mention.

Good try, Barf... But to be fair, an unpatched flaw on Apple's software is more news than on Microsoft right?

Or is this an attempt to "Oh, but look at the other one too" to divert attention to the topic which is "There's no fricking secure OS, ever"?

When it comes to response times for security issues Microsoft are pretty good. The Word flaws are cross-platform which is why I thought I'd mention it.

Microsoft are stuck with a pretty bad security stigma but they're definately improving and I even think Vista is OK :-)

RE Apple don't get me started. To work around a bug in the latest Airport firmware they won't fix (I even gave them alot of help in diagnosis) I have to use an older firmware vulnerable to the bonk fragmented packet technique.

For balance, here's a Windows Media Player hole.

A malicious user could employ a corrupted file to cause Media Player to overrun a heap-allocated bugger, potentially leading to remote code execution, according to a post on the Microsoft Security Response Center blog by researcher Alexandra Huft.

Yeah, those "heap-allocated buggers" are a pain...
