Well Have replaced the drives (inc optical) in my MBP with 2x Samsung 840 Pro SSD's in stripped RAID 0.. damn its quick!

However I also need Windows every now and then, from what I have tried and read it does not seem to be possible... Parallels will stop when Windows setup launches, asking for disk drivers to continue. Apple's Boot Camp will not launch at all with a RAID 0 setup either, wont allow the setup to even launch.

Anyone had and experience with running a VM on OS X with a RAID 0 configuration? any help would be much appreciated. Could just run the drives independently but then I would lose the performance gains from RAID...

Ideas? Anyone know If I could run Windows via an external drive when needed? (fire wire/thunderbolt)

2x SSDs in striped RAID? I seriously doubt you are getting any higher speeds from that then you would with a regular SSD, and you have doubled the chances that something will go horribly wrong at one time or another. So make sure you have good backups from now on..

Makes benchmarking figures look amazing, real world performance no super improvement I guess. Yeap working on backup solution at the moment. Tend to keep anything of real importance in the cloud or on an external drive.

Well seems its just not possible, ended up making a 'Logical Volume Group' aka Apple Fusion setup so both drives are seen as one but with a partition to use Windows/Bootcamp on. Just lose the RAID 0 speed, oh well.
