Well its that time again where all us Apple fans/nuts wet ourselves in anticipation of what will be released from the 'Steve Jobs High Temple' in California. We will then ooh arr and drool over every word and slide during the presentation.

For the dedicated fans Apples annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) starts at 0500 (NZ time) Tues 2nd June. Set your alarms. Apple is offering a live video stream of the Keynote speech. So make a strong cup of coffee and fire up your browser.

Expected:
OS 10.10 and iOS 8 announcement.
Updates to: iMac, MacBook & iPad range

Speculation products:
iPhone 6 with larger screen size
iMac with ARM CPU
iMac with Retina Display
iMac with full touch screen
iWatch
iTV - set top box
iTV - full screen TV
Smart Home technology with iDevice intergation
wireless cone head set (post purchase of Beats - Dr Dre)

Speculation software:
split screen multi-tasking in iOS
iHealthBook with hardware (Heart Rate/O2 saturations/Blood Pressure etc)
iBeacon (unified payment type app)
Better streaming music service (post purchase of Beats - Dr Dre)

AND SOMETHING EVEN THE ORACLES DID NOT FORESEE.

There seems to be allot more secrecy this year. All the banners are covered from the 1st floor up at the Mascone Conference centre. At least 50% of the schedule is "To Be Announced". Also Apple really has not had a NEW product releases for 18 months so expect some surprises.

So what are the fans dreaming of?

For me tomorrow will be the make or break moment - where I will either stay with my Mac or I will switch to another OS.

I'm not so keen on the iOS-ification of OS X, so if that's the direction it's going it will have to be executed well and not limit the OS for me in any way.

I very much doubt there will be any iPhone or iPad announcements other than on the OS side. I would think they will have focus on OS-X and iOS new features, and maybe some Macbook/Mac type announcement. Probably also unveil a little more about why they have spent 3 billion on Beats. (Still don't understand that one myself).

Any examples of this rip off you are talking about? Seems to me like you got it backwards. Case in point: Android and Android phones before and after the first iPhone.

Properly for its emerging music streaming service backbone as well as its hardware technology

Apparently the streaming service was priced at around 500 million. So the rest of the company was valued at 2.5 billion.

It must be something special because Apple has NEVER spent over a billion on a buy out EVER. I wonder if Beats had some TV licesensing or sealed up agreements with some of those hard to get music labels or TV and movie companies that Apple could not get?

I think there will be an iphone 6 at normal size, and the larger iphone will be called the iphone air. A lot of people love the current form factor (width) of the iphone, as they can use it one handed, so I can't see them ditching it. It is a point of difference of iphones, over many android phones. Wonder if they will ditch the iphone c models, or create something lower cost. If they create something lower cost, they will be covering most areas of the market. The ipad is pretty mature now. I think they will look at creating a higher value product, something inbetween the macbook air and ipad., which isn't just a consumption device.

An iOS refresh for Apple TV would be nice with an App Store. It's got to happen sooner or later, right?

I don't think the iPhone 6 will be announced tomorrow - don't they normally have a separate event for this kind of thing?

I think the iOS 8 announcement will cover the new healthbook apps and some other OS changes/improvements. I also think they will announce significant improvements to their Maps app... There will also be the usual OSX improvements with rumors suggesting a more iOS look which I like the idea off. I don't think they willl change the core funciton of OSX cause that will alienate a lot of users IMO.

I wish for an amazing Apple TV OS announcement but that is unlikely.

Three in a row... It still amazes me the level of interest and buzz around the Apple events. It must annoy the hell out of other companies!
