Hi all,

As the title suggests, I'm trying to figure out if its possible to display two iOS devices at once using the QuickTime Players feature where you can share the devices screen via Lightning USB cable.

I can open up two instances of QuickTime Player, and the first one configures correctly to display say my iPhones screen, but when I try to set the other one to show my iPads screen it throws and error and won't let me do it. It does this regardless of which device I try first, I think its more intentional than anything.

Is there any way around this, or is there some other app that can handle this for us? We need to show two iOS devices on one screen to demo an app for a class, we originally were going to hold them infront of the camera and do it that way but it looks kinda ridiculous haha.

Any ideas greatly appreciated :)

Just incase anyone stumbles on the thread later, here's what I've done as one solution:

You need 2 Macs, on high speed networks (ideally either same WiFi LAN, Wired LAN or ADHOC)
Access to both Macs to setup (obviously)

Setup screensharing for the iOS devices as normal on each Mac
1. Connect via USB
2. Open QuickTime Player
3. "File"
4. "New Movie Recording"
5. Select the down arrow ( \/ ) looking thing next to the record button
6. Select the iOS device under the "Camera" section
On the Mac which will be connected to the projector/display for viewing, open "Screen Sharing" and type the second Macs Apple ID or Host Name, click "Connect"
On the second Mac, accept the connection
Rearrange windows on the first Mac for desired fit

It's not ideal, but it does the job. I done a quick test and it seems to work fine but a bit jittery because of the screen sharing, will test on a hopefully faster WiFi network tomorrow. Fingers crossed a cleaner solution will be mentioned because I'm yet to find one still :P

Another way would be to install Parallels(or I think vm ware will also do this) and create a mac os x virtual machine. Pass the USB onto the VM and continue on as usual.

This should allow you to air play the iPhone screen to your mac screen. They have a free trial so may be worth a look

This is perfect, thank you heaps for suggesting. I never heard of this before but gave it a whirl today on the campus WiFi and it seemed to work reasonably well even on there. I'm gonna give it a try later on home WiFi and see if its any better but it's exactly what I'm after (unless they offered a way to do it via USB :P)
