i have a 4th gen ipod video. when i plug it in to my imac 24" 2.4GHz it comes up with the message:
cannot be synced. an unknown error had occurred (- 48).

does anyone know what this means and what to do?

please could you email me if you have any ideas at ****removed email address****
i have restored it once but the error occurred again.

Download the latest update for iTunes and the iPod. Restore the iPod. See if that works.

thanks for the quick response.

i checked the problem on the apple help website and found how to resolve this problem. 
i had to change the time setting to somewhere in the USA, and then restore my ipod and then change the time setting back to UK and it all worked fine.
