Hardware/software list on Mac, showed that Ethernet 'AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext' file had had been disabled.

I've downloaded and applied the file contained in the following link;

I rebooted my iMac and the Ethernet port has recovered.

Please note the stanadrd PRAM NVRAM reset will not fix this issue.

Hope not too many other people have been caught out by this poorly managed update.

I had to reinstall the OS yesterday; this issue didn't make the news until today and I couldn't figure out why it had suddenly stopped working. I've now turned automatic updates off; I want to know when things are changing so that I'm not completely in the dark if something happens again.

It is inexcusable for Apple to push out an update without testing it, but I'd be amazed if we get so much as a "sorry".

I'm lucky i didnt notice it until today - I use my WiFi connection to route through my VPN.

It was only when i switched back that I noticed it was broken.

Thinking about turning off my automatic updates as well.

OSX Updates are getting flakier and flakier these days. I guess theyre focusing on iOS these days :(

Yep, pain in the butt. There was a quick fix through Terminal and a restart. I think they are becoming more concerned about their 'designer' products then their core business. Just wonder how long they will even be making computers.
