All of a sudden my screen saver (latest OSX version) won't stay engaged. It comes on for a minute or two and then goes off again.
Any ideas?

power saving setting?
by "goes off" do you mean the screen turns off, or that the screensaver is deactivated and goes back to the desktop?

The latter. It comes on as it should when I poke the Hot Corner concerned. Within 2 or 3 minutes, the screensaver is gone and the desktop there again. The screensaver then never activates of it's own accord.
AFAIK I have not changed any settings and it used to work perfectly normally.

richms:
any video playing possibly in a browser etc? even an ad seems to screw with the powering down of my screen.
Possibly - I will try it with Safari closed and see if it still happens.

Made no difference.

I don't have an Mac but did some googling and came up with either:
1) You have an app that interrupts the sleep process,,,
or
2) it might be might be mouse related?

maybe try resetting all the screensaver settings and see whether this helps?

else try the "Little Snitch" app mentioned by someone else in that thread and see if you have network activity interuptine the screensaver?
Check to make sure there is no dust or fluff near the sensor on the mouse, iv'e seen this cause the issue you have described before.
Yep, mouse related. Try turning off the mouse and see if the SS comes on of it's own accord.
If it's a Bluetooth mouse or trackpad it could need new batteries.
