I want to upgrade my Core 2 Duo Macbook (2Ghz) for no other reason than there's something (well, two things) out there which are way hotter and I now have the cash to do so. Unsurprisingly, I'm tossing up between the Macbook Air and the baseline Macbook Pro, both relatively the same cost. But I'm very torn, and hoping for some advice / thoughts on which would suit best, and whether it's at all advisable to buy a 1st-gen product (i.e., Macbook Air).
I (unlike some here) realise the obvious pitfalls of the Macbook Air, but I'm a student and it's just so goddamn hot. Serious tech jealousy awaits. I also run my website, walkingisoverrated.com, and sometimes I use Photoshop to manipulate images, etc. Does this run like a dog on the Air? Is the lone USB port pissing some of you off, or have USB hubs suited you well? To be honest, the Macbook Pro is the solid, sensible option, but it does seem like it's in need of a serious form refresh, and I've heard some say the heat generated off the thing is enough to raise fertility risks. Joking, I'm sure, but not particularly funny :P
So yes. What I'm really after, if you would be so kind, are first-hand accounts of the new MBP or MBA, whether it's suited your needs, exceeded your expectations, first impressions, that sort of thing...? Would be muchly appreciated :)
