I'll just put it out there from the start - I'm a huge Apple fanboy, and it'd take a lot for me to speak ill of one of their products. But gosh, Time Capsule is pushing my limits, big time.

Firstly, it was a pig to set up. I've worked for Xtra so I know my way around a router, but the "Airport Utility" was spouting so much crap about WAN, DHCP, NAT and numerous other jargon-laden dialog boxes, it had me completely flummoxed. I wanted to connect it to my existing wireless router with an ethernet cable and have it dish out IPs instead, but what a mission... Anyway, an hour or two later of specifying IP addresses and such, I have it working nicely. The range doesn't appear to be much improved over my old D-Link G604T though! My iPhone's WiFi still cuts out intermittently when I'm in bed. Sad face.

Anyway, onto the Time Machine part. What a process! I've used Time Machine before on an external USB hard drive, and I was delighted by how seamless and unobtrusive the whole process was. Hook TC up, and all of a sudden I get disk images mounting in the Finder, and a popup box showing the progress of the backup! What the...? Since when did Apple start forcing dialog boxes upon us? I've also gotten random 'backup failed' errors, and just now I tried to access Time Machine, and it gave me an 'unknown error', and failed.

I'm a little annoyed. This whole process has been anything but easy and seamless. Have any of you guys got Time Capsule? How do you find it? How have you set it up?

I have just recieved my Macbook 2.4GHz today, and am considering Time Capsule. Really appeals to me, I hope your issues are isolated. I might have to do some more internet research before I make a purchase.
